#MyTopThree. Vehicles. Number 3

Greetings. Seems lots of people enjoy when I post older pictures from my past, and let’s face it it’s not like I can take many at moment (soon hopefully). So after a think I decided to do my Top 3 vehicles across this week. This is all about my personal choice, the vehicles that I think have been the best for me for some reason. Though I do think its a fact my Number 1 is one of the best vehicles of all time, possibly the best, but you’ll have to wait for that! Also as you may know I’m a relentless lover of the new and unlike many drivers I’m under no illusion, modern trucks are nicer to drive, so my choices very much belong in their time.

And *insert drumroll* Number 3 is the Scania R Series. Before Virginia the only Scanias I’d driven had been the day cab monstrosity's Tesco had. I used them out of Harlow. But since I started at Virginia is 2007 they’ve gone from my least driven to most. The best version is the last one, with its proper bed, not that ridiculous bed you have to make before bed. In the last of the R’s the slide out bed was the best in the business in my opinion, well, level with DAF. Otherwise I love the driving position with its wrap round dash. A very comfortable truck to drive that I’ve driven up as far as Norway and down as far as Crete.

So what’s your number 3? Hold back on others for when I post 2 & 1.

Dark Diamond 1. I did it’s last trip for Whites, Italy. Probably my favourite of the special editions

#ThrowbackThursday; Where It All Began….

#ThrowbackThursday - So if you’ve followed me for long you will already know I’ve had a rather ridiculous career working for every man and his dog, driving everything from vans to rigids to artics to drawbars to buses and coaches. I’m really proud of my bonkers career, it’s been absolutely amazing! But, my driving career didn’t start on the road, it started on a landfill, in a Moxy! For pretty my whole childhood Dad was a mechanic who drove on the side. I used to spend lots of time with him, going away in lorries or spending the weekend with him in the workshop. One job he had was for a local plant hire company and this was one of the best as back in those days when no one really cared much about H&S, I got to drive and play with machines in the yard. It got to point where I could lift engines and axles etc with pinpoint precision with the mini digger, helping Pops. Can’t dig a hole to save my life tho! One day one of the bosses saw me gently lifting the engine back into a Mox...
