#People: Happy Fathers Day Dad.

My whole family is allergic to social media so this as good as it gets frankly! God only knows where I came from.

Well, or eating dinner 
in Llangefni. 

If you’ve followed me for long you’ll know my Dad is a very important part of my life, as is a man I never knew because he died long before I was born, my Granddad. My life is what it is because of Grandad and Dad, and it’s nice to feel connected to Grandad in that way. So thanks Dad. Thanks for being the remarkable Dad you’ve been. And Thanks Grandad for being the amazing Dad you so clearly were to Dad. A Dad so good his son followed him in his tracks, as ultimately his grandchildren he never knew did. Dad got me my first truck job, at Nolan’s. Then my second on agency. Then I ended up at HSF and he followed, then Virginia and he followed there too as my brother did. And finally my last job, hopefully not final last (?!) on the milk. I still sometimes go for a spin with him and we’ve followed each other from job to job for 20years.

So as I’ve said before if you’re a Dad and you worry about being away from your family, don’t. Just make when you are there the very best it can be.

#MyTopThree: Countries. 1. IRELAND

So if you have thought about what #MyTopThree Countries much I dare say you’ll find number one inevitable. So yes, Ireland! I feel I should remind you this is a top 3 based on overall experience, not just driving. Though it has a terrible reputation for bad roads the road network is unrecognisable compared to just 20/25 years ago and bad roads are becoming ever fewer and further between. My first taste of Ireland was when Dad started working for Nolans in the late 90’s who were at the time one of ‘South Wales’ biggest employers of drivers. Back then the roads were horrendous and you had to make sure everything was strapped down, in the cab as well as the trailer! Nolan’s gets a lot of bad said about it but like most things a lot is not really true. Yes they were plain speakers, yes you ran day and night but no one ever went there for an easy time. Fact is they were/are well run and like most of Ireland’s transport sector a family firm where you’re more like to see the boss in overalls ...
