GUEST BLOGGERS

Yo dudes and dudettes. I've had an idea. I know, a rare occurrence. Inspired by twitter accounts who have a different guest tweeting each week I'm going to do the same with my facebook page (no ones gets their hands on my twitter). Basically each week, and for a week I'll make a different person an admin so they can then post as I do. As you can imagine this will require some rules, which I will set out below. 1. You must work in the transport industry or a closely related industry. You don't have to be a driver, in fact I'd like to see a wide variety of different people so we can all see the other sides of the industry. 2. Your posts should be work related. The lorry-driver.com Facebook page is very much all about transport and so should your posts be. 3. Absolutely no swearing, abuse, racism, homophobia etc. In general or directed at anyone. I won't tolerate this, my page is built on positivity. 4. No politics, no 'this driver cut me up' sorts of posts...

DRIVING GOD!

I AM A DRIVING GOD! BOW DOWN BEFORE ME! The lay by turned up just in time. I'm about to eat breakfast but once I have my Holyhead - Wijchen, Holland trip continues. Where are you off to today? There will be more videos but I've been so busy lately. Is shaping up to be a very exciting summer. More details next week hopefully. HIGHWAYS ENGLAND IS DAMAGING THE COUNTRY

Hello friends. I need to get a little rant of my chest..... I recently had two weeks off, it was lovely. On my return I went straight out with a load for Budapest. Ballina in the West of Ireland is a long way so had four days to do it. Lovely run. I delivered 2am Saturday, reloaded midnight Sunday at same place and headed back. Because of the loading time I got to run back overnight. I tweeted how this was a great way to run through Europe and that I could get 50 to 100km more done on a nightshift. I got some tweets about the UK being a nightmare at night so I smiled to myself and replied that that is very true. I flew back, lovely quiet motorways, flying along. Well, until I hit England. Coming round M25 and up M1 I see signs warning of problems on the M4 (almost nobody heading north on M1 is likely to have the M4 on their agenda). I stopped in Coventry for a spot of shopping and off I went. I was gonna go up M6 Toll but matrix signs said shut so carried on. Just before the M6 junctio...

LEGAL ADVICE COLUMN

Hello chums. I was approached recently and asked if I'd be interested in hosting an occasional legal advice column. So since it could be useful to us all I said yes. This is the first one, so feedback would be most welcome. Also any questions you may have for future columns. So, here goes, LAW....ACTIVATE.... Operation Stack question As you may have seen in the news Operation Stack has been in force this week in Kent, where truck drivers are forced to park up on the motorway to await their crossing across the channel. The problem is you end up moving forward bit by bit so never get a proper daily rest in. So for instance Wednesday I ended up working 21 hours as I spent 16 hours getting across the channel. So the question could be what is the right procedure for a driver in such circumstances, what can they do to help themselves avoid a prosecution and what would be the procedure if they were prosecuted. The starting point is that Article 12 of the EU Drivers' Hours Regulations ...
