Hello all. Had a lovely day visiting family yesterday. Had to go though Dads pictures for an upcoming magazine article and got loads I’ll be sharing here over the next few weeks. This one is what was then and may still be a traditional New Ross Christmas, a yard full of trucks! This was 2001 when Mercedes and Iveco ruled the roost at Nolans, with MAN as a big part player! And yes, if you’re poised to type ‘they probably still run them’ don’t, it’s a very tired joke at this stage!  Since the times Dad drove an SK my dream classic lorry has been an SK, Eurocab if possible, an 1850 4x2 (is 4x2 superfluous? Since model number tells you it’s a 4 wheeler. 18 - 18 tonnes, so four wheeler, 50 500 horses). Ideally with Movin On on the visor. Everyone gets wet over the Scania 143 but in my opinion the SK was every bit a legendary Irish lorry. And dare I say it……actually a better lorry (don’t hate me) Thanks for reading SUPPORT ME! Then I spoke to my best chum Mark and he says ‘they might have a point’. Me and Mark have been super close for 20 years and outside of my family he’s the one that knows me best. In some ways he knows me better than I know myself. No one except my mother knows me better. We have  long questioned wether I’ve something like this, Seeing my personality up close first hand Mark says ‘I’ve always known you’re on some kind of spectrum’(!) and we have a running joke about my frequent and many obsessions....

Hello all. Hope your weekend is going to plan. So many peoples in Greece and Turkey heartbreakingly aren’t. Can’t imagine the horror. So just to say sending my thoughts. Ultimately meaningless of course but hey ho. I love Greece, did several runs there with Virginia (before videos alas). Out from Ancona on Superfast back via Agoudimos Lines to Bari or Brindisi on a ferry that felt like a Soviet satellite state boat. But I’m waffling, sending love. Good to see we and their other friends have been sending help. Imagine being on a ship, so at least safe, and watching your entire world go up in smoke. Really looking forward to trying one of these. Mr Tomlinson of Volvo has promised me a go in one when I’m back driving. And yes many, probably most of you are doubters but my answer to any criticism is this is a start, not an end. It won’t work for all applications as Volvo clearly say but over time there will be more and more as it develops. I simply love technology, I love new things, and I’ve no idea why some drivers get so wound up by what powers the truck they drive. Is electric the answer to it all? Who knows, that’s what we’re all here to find out. Probably won’t be a one size fits all future in the way diesel was in my opinion. Are other opinions like hydrogen a better option? Who knows, that’s what we are here to find out. Life is much more enjoyable with an open mind! Embrace the new, don’t fear it.
