New Phone Who Dis?


Thanks to my wonderful mother I’ve a new phone as an early Christmas present (I’m still poverty striken! She didn’t pay full price is with contact!) so from an iPhone XS, four years old, longest I’ve ever owned a phone but served me very well, I’ve jumped to an iPhone 13 and lord what a jump. So seemless to set up as your new phone, 15 minutes later and you’ve got an almost exact copy. Used to take longer to put all the numbers in a Nokia! What I love most about Apple is the evolution not revolution outlook, so everything looks same but is just better. Not least the camera. First and last pics taken straight out of my pocket, in 2 seconds and unedited, it’s insane. When I started my photography journey in the school dark room you’d need a stack of very expensive equipment to produce shots half as good as this. So yeah, my content quality will be improving vastly, not least visually but sound too as my XS mic was.

EDIT; To add, yes before you start I know Android does some things better, but also worse. At this stage if an intensive user like I am and many of you will be your locked into an OS you picked years ago. 

EDIT; To add take two, thinking about it the OS I originally picked was the amazing Windows Phone. I had many but best was Nokia 1020. The yellow one with a 41 megapixel camera a decade ago!

EXTREME WEATHER; ADVICE FOR CAR DRIVERS

Hello peeps. As many of you will know some really bad weather is about to hit us and last over the festive period. Reading about it on BBC news the line 'give high sided vehicles plenty of room' gave me an idea for a blog post. So here it is! Many people who have very little motorway experience take to the road at this time of year. Im not claiming to be the best driver in the world, I just know that many car drivers follow my blog and lets face it the car test is inadequate at best. So all I want to do is give you some advice I learned from driving everything from cars to minibuses to double deck coaches and vans to artics in 22 different countries over the past 18 years! IN HIGH WINDS- 1. DO NOT DITHER! On motorways often if a problem occurs most car drivers first reaction is to brake. In many cases this can be the worst option! #MyTopThree: Countries. 1. IRELAND

So if you have thought about what #MyTopThree Countries much I dare say you’ll find number one inevitable. So yes, Ireland! I feel I should remind you this is a top 3 based on overall experience, not just driving. Though it has a terrible reputation for bad roads the road network is unrecognisable compared to just 20/25 years ago and bad roads are becoming ever fewer and further between. My first taste of Ireland was when Dad started working for Nolans in the late 90’s who were at the time one of ‘South Wales’ biggest employers of drivers. Back then the roads were horrendous and you had to make sure everything was strapped down, in the cab as well as the trailer! Nolan’s gets a lot of bad said about it but like most things a lot is not really true. Yes they were plain speakers, yes you ran day and night but no one ever went there for an easy time. Fact is they were/are well run and like most of Ireland’s transport sector a family firm where you’re more like to see the boss in overalls ...
