My Shop

Finally up to date with shop orders, thanks for everyone’s patience and custom. Now I’m on 4 on 4 off or 4 on 3 off I’ll be able to get the shop up and running again. Working on some new products. Any suggestions welcome. Have a good evening all and enjoy these pictograms.

Trundling About The Countryside

Hello friends, sorry I’ve been so quiet, work has been manic, but I’ve just started a 4 on 4 off shift pattern which will now give me much more time for the rest of my life. Just a little video with no speaking as strictly I’m not allowed to make video but this is just driving, this is what my day on Corwen looks like. I love it as it’s 80% single track lanes and farm tracks, which most hate but I enjoy. Also I meet so many dogs it’s amazing! It’s really hard work but now I’m 4 on 4 off it’ll be so much easier cope with (5 days one week and 6 the next was killing me!). But hey, it’s all good, waking up in your own bed of a morning means it’s a great day. Have a good week all.

Welcome New Drivers

In what surprise non drivers becoming a lorry driver has always been notoriously hard to get into. I myself was driving busses and coaches all over Europe and still struggling to get a job driving a truck. Took me 3 years. Thankfully this does seem to be improving. If you’ve followed me any length of time you’ll know that I’m a big supporter of new drivers, which can be funny when I put the point of view of the young driver on bitchy Facebook posts and I get mistaken for a young driver, I’m clearly a very youthful looking man. The attitude of the rest of the industry can be very negative, people seemingly don’t consider  how their words might affect people. We were all new once. Instead of moaning and bitching about young drivers making mistakes and not knowing things be a grown up and share some of your knowledge, simple. Basically don’t be a twat. Driving a Twin Splitter once decades ago doesn’t make you better than others who’ve always used automatics. Being able to throw a shee...

Looking To The Future……..

So, here goes then! I’m a LinkedIn novice, having spent a lifetime as a driver! Background- after a serious car accident in 2020 that very nearly killed me I started thinking about the future, as you do when you came so close to not having one! Driving was my dream job, I’ve driven so many things from minibuses and coaches to trucks & vans and even plant machiny like articulated dumper trucks & diggers in a career that crossed 20+ countries in Europe from Portugal to Hungary to Norway to Finland to Ireland and everywhere in between so many times over a near 25 year career.. I had the time of my life, it was amazing, but…… I’ve done all I dreamed of. My CV looks ridiculous because I wanted to experience everything, which I did. But this has left me wondering what’s next? Do I simply repeat everything over the next 20 years. Which would be easy but not fulfilling or do I strike out on a new path? I’m choosing the latter.   I’m incredibly experienced as a driver but obvio...

I’VE GOT A F**KING JOB!

#ThrowbackThursday; Clarkes of London Setra

#ThrowbackThursday People often say to me ‘Luke, as the countries, nay Europes, nay the entire planets most respected, most famous and frankly most brilliantly skilled driver, what is the favourite vehicle you’ve ever driven’.* Most expect it to be one of the great many 750’s or V8 Scanias a man of my standing has obviously driven but no, honestly it’s always been this. I even preferred it to Clarke’s newer Setras. There was just something so right about it, from the four over four gear-change to the smoothness. If you don’t know about coaches there are two types, ones where a body is put on a manufacturers chassis, likes of Plaxton etc or these, integrals, don’t have a separate chassis and the manufacturer just buys in running gear. On Setras it’s Mercedes, the other intergrals, Bova/VDL use DAF, also great to drive, been many places across Europe in Bovas. For me rear engines are by far best, much better driving experience and more room for luggage. So yeah, this, athough not much in...
